London-based Video Production

Richard is a London-based Corporate, PR, Editorial and Documentary Photographer, Cinematographer (DoP), and Director.

I was born in Bow in East London within the sound of the famous Bow Bells, so according to history and tradition, I am a Cockney. But what does that mean? For me, it means a sense of place - of beginnings and belonging. Wherever we’re born, we should never underestimate the role our roots play in shaping who and what we become. I remain true to mine, and although I’ve travelled extensively and experienced many nationalities and cultures, I’m still based in East London, just a few miles from my birthplace.

I have over 30 years of media production experience as a photographer, cinematographer (DoP), director, producer and writer. I’ve worked with organisations including London’s Metropolitan Police, Transport for London, G4S, several NHS Trusts, Child Safety Media Ltd, Queens Theatre (Hornchurch), Redbridge Stage Company, Safe Drive Stay Alive London, several London boroughs, Lancashire Constabulary, and many others. I also worked with the former Mayfair model agency Askew Team and the Sylvia Young Agency, producing test and casting photos for up-and-coming models and performers.

I’ve covered diverse subjects, including healthcare, working in clinical environments and with frontline medics delivering pre-hospital emergency care, state occasions, terrorist and other major incidents, theatre productions, and social issues such as rough sleepers, rogue landlords, knife crime, and child safety. I worked with the Metropolitan Police on a major anti-knife crime project in North London, for which I received a commendation from the police borough commander.

My images have appeared in national and local newspapers, magazines, annual reports, theatre publicity, trade exhibitions and conferences, and many are licensed through leading stock agencies, including Shutterstock, Alamy, Pond5, iStock, and Adobe Stock. In addition to corporate video, I’ve shot news footage that has been broadcast on London news channels and BBC Crimewatch.

Besides film directing, I’ve also directed and produced live corporate awards events at London venues, including the Tower Hotel, the Tavistock Hotel, and the Connaught Rooms, and have been involved with various television programmes in an advisory role, including London’s Burning, Grange Hill, The Bill, Blue Peter, Blues and Twos, This is Your Life, BBC Crimewatch, The London Programme, BBC 999, and Grantchester.

I’m a member of The Guild of Television Camera Professionals (GTC) and the Society of Television Lighting and Design (STLD).
